Patrick Murphy is Chairman of the Aviation Group at Performance Consultants International, a major provider of advisory, coaching and mentoring services to many industries around the world.
Patrick has over thirty five years experience in the airline industry. For the past fifteen years he has been a consultant and advisor to a number of airlines. Recent projects he has worked on include:
Establishing low cost airlines
Competing against low cost airlines
Generating ancillary revenues
Reform of pricing strategy
Business transformation
New Airline Business models
Corporate governance and organizational development
Management and leadership development
Some of his clients include LAN, Air Zimbabwe, Gulf Air, Felix Airways and All Nippon Airways.
Patrick's early career was with Aer Lingus where he managed commercial activities including research, government and industry affairs, interline agreements, pricing, marketing and sales. In the mid-eighties he became General Manager of Strategic Development and was actively involved in new business development, consultancy and ancillary activities.
He left the airline in 1987 to become non-executive Director and Chairman of various transport companies including Irish Ferries, Aer Turas, Datalex Communications and Allied Management Systems.
In 1992 he was appointed Chairman of Ryanair and oversaw its transformation from a traditional full-service regional airline into the low-cost airline that it is today. He left in 1995 and started his career as a consultant and advisor to airlines all over the world as well as working as Director, Corporate Development and transforming the tariff negotiation process at IATA.
Patrick was born in Ireland and lives in Switzerland. He graduated from University College Dublin with a degree in Commerce and an MBA. He has lectured extensively and regularly makes presentations at airline conferences.
